Our Story
Life-Style Design started guiding homeowners toward design solutions in January of 2006 through design consulting. Directing clients toward a finished project is only half of the equation. Qualified painters, electricians, carpenters, etc. make the difference in how smoothly a project is carried out. Carole saw the opportunity to offer a more complete service that would include responsibilities over the installations. The new and improved company started offering full service design and contracting services in January of 2007 when Mike joined Carole as a partner. The name remained Life-Style Design, but a fitting tagline of "Concept thru Completion" was added to their logo.
Carole Moore
As co-owner of Life-Style Design, Carole is responsible for making the finished project everything the client asked for and more than they expected. She wants every design to be a reflection of the homeowners style and prides herself on making each design unique. If you ask her what her favorite style is, you'll probably hear "oooooh, I can't pick a favorite, that's like picking your favorite child."
Carole grew up in rural southeast Missouri. She graduated from Oak Ridge High School and went on to receive her bachelors degree in Interior Design at Southeast Missouri State University. Carole worked for 11 years at the Cape Girardeau Lowe's store. She gained practical experience in flooring, lighting, paint, plumbing, and kitchen cabinets. Before she left Lowe's, she served the cabinet department as Specialist and Mentor and held various management positions in other departments.
Mike Harvell
As co-owner of Life-Style Design, Mike is responsible for guiding the designer through technical aspects of construction, including electrical and plumbing. Mike is a true craftsman. He prefers to build cabinets, fireplace mantels, and other millwork in a home as opposed to installing factory built. He is very creative and challenges designers to keep up.
Mike was raised in Southern Illinois; he graduated from Egyptian High School and studied agriculture at Southeast Missouri State University. Mike started his construction experience when he was only 13. He fondly remembers hitting his thumb while nailing shingles on a roof with his father. Mike owned several businesses in Southern Illinois before starting Harvell Construction which he owned and opperated for 10 years.
